Nitrous Oxide
This is a form of inhalation sedation used in dentistry for many years. Nitrous Oxide is a colorless, sweet smelling gas which you simply inhale. The gas is used by dentists to induce a state of relaxation in their patients to alleviate anxiety. The dentist will also administer a local anesthetic in combination with the nitrous oxide to numb the tooth. The patient is able to breathe on their own and remain in control of their bodily functions. When the procedure is complete, the patient is typically able to resume normal activities upon leaving the office.
